Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than 20 years. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently is the president of the organization. A California native, Buss was raised in an affluent family. Jerry Buss, her father was a businessman in the field of real estate and later became owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. She felt abandoned emotionally when her parents separated in the year 1972. At the age of 19 she inherited management of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. Then, she established her own Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. Prior to becoming vice-president of the Lakers in 2013, she was president of Great Western Forum. Buss was the inheritor of her share of the Lakers through her father's estate in 2013. Five siblings of hers took over the franchise through an estate trust. Buss was elected in 2013 to take control of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling group).
