April Ross

April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball players who have won medals in multiple Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll be aiming to win her third gold medal with fellow the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be her last chance to take home the Olympic gold. Still confident but she is not sure. If we play our top or perform well, I think we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Therefore, I'm hoping to have a little bit of luck too. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began participating in athletics at Newport Harbor High School. In Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. As a pre-schooler she played indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running track. She clearly was the top player in indoor volleyball. During her high school career she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball as per her college bio. Her efforts were recognized when she was named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions players of the year. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their relationship in 2017 however, Ross has been a beach star for years before. In reality, she was a winner of multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. among them a volleyball icon. The pair teamed along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's trainer. Together together with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing in the international circuit. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group that could take home the gold. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Following high school, and for a few several years prior to hitting the sand as a pro Ross was a ball for the USC Trojans as an collegiate. Ross had an impressive run through college. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. Also, she was one of the key players in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year yet was capable of achieving the All-American title. Through her last two years within the team, she guided the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain winning successive national titles. In her own way, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie never got to see her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. Ross holds her mother close to her heart. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beach.
